Mr Paolo Consigliere

Mr Paolo Consigliere is available for both adult and paediatric orthopaedic consultation and treatment.

Mr Consigliere is a fellowship-trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in disorders of the shoulder and elbow. He has extensive expertise in advanced arthroscopic (keyhole) techniques, sport injuries, open reconstructive and joint replacement surgery, as well as the management of complex upper limb trauma.

He is committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care for a wide range of shoulder and elbow conditions, including rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, calcific tendinitis, shoulder and elbow instability conditions and dislocations, degenerative and inflammatory arthritis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, and upper limb fractures.

In addition to treating adult patients, Mr Consigliere has specialist experience in managing shoulder and elbow conditions in children aged three years and above.

Mr Consigliere graduated in Medicine from the University of Pavia, Italy, in 2009 and completed his trauma and orthopaedic training in Milan. He moved to the UK in 2013, where he undertook two highly regarded upper limb fellowships: one at the Rowley Bristow Unit, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and another at the Reading Shoulder Unit, Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, an internationally recognised centre of excellence. He further expanded his expertise by completing a limb reconstruction fellowship at St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, one of London’s four major trauma centres.
He was appointed as a Consultant in 2019 and currently works at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, Kent, UK.

For the past ten years, Mr Consigliere has collaborated with colleagues at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA, contributing to significant professional development and advancing his specialist expertise in elbow surgery.

Mr Consigliere is a Lecturer at Kent and Medway Medical School, Director of Clinical Research at the Reading Shoulder Unit, and Research Lead at the William Harvey Hospital, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters, making substantial contributions to the fields of upper limb and trauma surgery. He is also actively involved in teaching as faculty on advanced shoulder and elbow arthroplasty and arthroscopic surgery courses.

Mr Consigliere is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, AO Trauma, the British Elbow and Shoulder Society, and the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow.
